She also congratulated the <br />new graduates this weekend and welcomed their families to the city. She offered a thank <br />you to Collette Jamison, Laurie Anderson, Rebecca Brittain, and Stephanie Garcia, and <br />welcomed the new city manager. <br />Councilmember Jones congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to buy a house <br />and stay in the best city in the corridor. He reported that he had attended the ribbon <br />cutting for the new Ingram Engineering Center and went to the Cinco de Mayo parade. <br />He spoke at the Greek awards ceremony on campus and said they had raised $98,000 and <br />surpassed the number of community hours. He reminded everyone that Juneteenth is <br />around the corner, and he will be organizing a website. He noted that the crawfish boil <br />was a great community event and encouraged events like that to continue to bring people <br />downtown. He also welcomed the new city manager. <br />Councilmember Thomaides reported that he had attended the Austin-San Antonio <br />Commuter Rail meeting. The district is excited about a meeting called this week by <br />Union Pacific with TXDOT and the rail commission to discuss a possible relocation and <br />commuter rail service. He also played in the Texas State Celebrity Classic Tennis Event <br />and thanked the tennis coach for women's tennis team and their efforts to make everyone <br />feel special. He reported that he had participated with student planners on Bobcat Build <br />and recognized the students he worked with. He recognized Chipotle for feeding every <br />Bobcat Builder that came in. <br />Mayor Narvaiz commented on the Ingram Engineering School and its beginnings. She <br />noted that you see names on buildings, but you never know what is behind the building. <br />She attended the ASG election debates and was impressed. She expressed pride that C.J. <br />Morgan sits on our council. She congratulated Brett Baker and Jason Moore voted the <br />new president and vice president, respectively. She attended the first meeting of the <br />Trans Texas 3 5 Corridor Committee. They are evaluating everything that TXDOT is <br />doing and how it impacts the community. She wished Congressman Lloyd Doggett well <br />after his accident. She attended the Envision Central Texas Awards banquet and declared <br />we will keep submitting Spring Lake for an award. She thanked the Heritage Association <br />for their help after the parade and thanked all the community members that help to <br />preserve this community. She reported that the McCoy family will receive honorary <br />doctorates at Texas State University this Saturday and noted their philanthropy related to <br />the Animal Shelter and the Women's Shelter. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />10.
