The Convention and Visitors Bureau Board (the "Board"), established by City Code <br />Section 2.351, oversees the tourism promotional activities of the San Marcos Area Chamber of <br />Commerce, which are funded with City hotel occupancy taxes. <br /> <br />2. The Board met recently and recommended changes to the composition of the Board., <br />the Council has directed the staff to proceed with revising the Board's ordinance. <br /> <br />3. With certain changes, the City Council wishes to implement the reconunendations of <br />the Board regarding revisions to the composition of the Board. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.351 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates <br />added text; overstrike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.351. Created; composition; terms; officers. <br /> <br />(a) The convention and visitors bureau board is created, composed of 11M voting members <br />appointed by the city council as described in subsection (b), and five foor non-voting ex- <br />officio members~ -, the city manager, the president and a vice-chair of the board of the San <br />Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, a.aà the president executive director of the San Marcos <br />Hispanic Chamber of Conunerce. and the director of the Greater San Marcos Economic <br />Development Council. <br /> <br />(b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the following <br />groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board: <br /> <br />1 <br />
