<br />148. <br /> <br />MINORITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City Council desires to enter into an amended contract with the San Marcos Hispanic <br />Chamber of Commerce for fiscal year 2003-2004 for professional services to promote orderly and <br /> <br />responsible minority economic development for the San Marcos geographic area. <br />2. This agreement is made by and between the City of San Marcos, Texas (the "City"), and <br />the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber"). <br /> <br />AGREEMENT: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />1. OBLIGATIONS OF THE CHAMBER <br />The Chamber will conduct and administer an economic development program which <br /> <br />has as its mission serving as a connection to local, national and international Hispanic markets to <br />stimulate economic development in the City of San Marcos. The Chamber shall accomplish this <br /> <br />mission through the following activities: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Coordinate support services for established businesses, such as counseling, seminars <br />and assistance. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Assist in marketing the City of San Marcos for economic development purposes in <br />local, national and international Hispanic markets. This will include actively <br />involving the City's Mayor and City Council members in marketing efforts and <br />communication with prospects, informing prospects of the availability of the Mayor <br />and Council Members for meetings and other assistance, and arranging for and <br />attending marketing trips with the City's Mayor and City Council Members to <br />targeted prospects. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Maintain a full-time staff to assist in the coordination of minority economic <br />development activities of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce and the <br />Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council and to assist in working <br />prospects. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The Chamber shall provide necessary skilled and knowledgeable personnel, <br /> <br />equipment and supplies for the administration and operation of its minority economic development <br />program, in accordance with the budget approved by the City. <br /> <br />C. The Chamber shall provide office facilities and utilities at the San Marcos Hispanic <br />Chamber of Commerce office sufficient to carry out its economic development program, in <br /> <br />accordance with the budget approved by the City. <br /> <br />1 <br />
