<br />155. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />This contract is dated September 23,,2003, and is between the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, a Texas municipal corporation (the "City"), the Greater San Marcos Economic Development <br /> <br />Council (the "EDC") and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber"). <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The Chamber administers a community economic development program through the EDc. . <br />2. The City Council desires to approve an amended contract with the EDC and the Chamber <br /> <br />for fiscal year 2003-2004 for professional services to promote orderly and responsible economic <br />development for the San Marcos geographic area. <br /> <br />AGREEMENT: <br /> <br />1. JOINT OBLIGATIONS OF EDC AND CHAMBER <br />A. EDC and Chamber shall conduct and administer an economic development program, the <br /> <br />mission of which will be to enhance and diversifY the San Marcos area economy. EDC and Chamber <br />agree to use their best efforts to accomplish this mission by using the following strategies and actions <br /> <br />to achieve the following goals during the tenD of this Agreement: <br />Goal No.1: Retention and Expansion of Existing Primary Employers <br /> <br />Strategy: <br /> <br />Conduct a business retention/expansion program, maintaining close ties <br />through regular contact with existing primary employers. <br /> <br />Actions: <br /> <br />1. <br />2. <br /> <br />Visit primary employers a minimum of twice annually. <br />Attend montlùy meeting of the San Marcos Manufacturers' Association. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Make trips, when appropriate, to a local company's headquarters. <br />Maintain and host the San Marcos Manufacturers' Association website. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Update the Manufacturers Directory. <br /> <br />Goal No.2: Recruit Primary Employers <br />Strategy: Directly or indirectly facilitate the attraction of new primary employers <br />through a targeted marketing campaign. <br /> <br />Actions: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Present marketing materials to regional allies such as: utilities, real estate brokers, site <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
