Install the approved local landmark marker at <br />each existing local historic landmark and offer <br />a city -paid marker for future landmarks as an <br />incentive to designate private property. <br />3. Consider working with the Arts Commission <br />and Parks Department to help fund the <br />initiative to install interpretive materials that <br />tell the story of San Marcos, especially of Black <br />residents, the Indigenous community, Mexican <br />American residents, and other historically <br />underrepresented groups. <br />4. Continue to foster partnerships with groups like <br />the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance, Council for <br />the Indigenous and Tejano Community, and the <br />El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic <br />Trail Association to install more local interpretive <br />panels on trails and in parks. <br />5. Incorporate local history at prominent street <br />corners and crossings within signage, sidewalk <br />pavers, and crosswalks to emphasize the City's <br />rich cultural heritage. <br />6.
