Hopkins St. <br />City Council Visioning Session - Day 2 <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the workshop of the San Marcos City Council was <br />called to order at 8:43 AM on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the San Marcos <br />Activity Center. This was the second day of the Council Visioning Session. <br />This meeting was held both in -person and online <br />II. Roll Call <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Garza arrived at 9:14 AM. <br />Council Member Gonzalez arrived at 9:14 AM. <br />Present: 5 - Mayor Pro Tern Shane Scott, Council Member Amanda Rodriguez, Mayor Jane <br />Hughson, Council Member Matthew Mendoza and Council Member Josh Paselk <br />Absent: 2 - Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Alyssa Garza and Council Member Lorenzo Gonzalez <br />III. Citizen Comment Period <br />Maxfield Baker addressed the Council to express concern that the city at times <br />dismisses the professional -level expertise offered by community members. <br />Baker stated that genuine experts are open to dialogue, even when ideas <br />conflict, and noted that staff can appear defensive when residents provide <br />well-informed input. Mr. Baker urged the Council to engage more <br />meaningfully with community experts rather than disregarding their <br />contributions, particularly given that the city pays consultants for similar <br />feedback. <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
