Maintenance activity records (MAXIMO) to support appropriate analysis and reporting • <br />Based on the results of the FOG program, procedures will be developed to adjust the cleaning <br />program to optimize the cleaning process and minimize blockages. Prioritization of preventive <br />maintenance activities can occur through the use of verbal communications, the use of work orders, <br />and/or routine operations such as sewer cleaning based on experience with known problem areas. <br />Data on stoppages or other operational problems is collected in the computer-based information <br />management system and reviewed regularly by system managers for prioritization. A formal <br />condition assessment process that relies on television inspection of specific sewers as part of its <br />prioritization process is frequently enlisted. <br />Section 4 Plan for a Routine Inspection/Maintenance/Replacement <br />Schedule for all Pumps and Electrical Equipment at all Lift <br />Stations <br />The San Marcos wastewater system includes 43 pumping stations. Three small pumping stations are <br />not monitored and the remaining pump stations have SCADA (27) or autodial (13) capability. This <br />state of the art monitoring system immediately identifies failures and sends out an alarm via radio <br />telemetry or autodial telephone. Preventive maintenance is scheduled using MAXIMO and failure <br />classes are maintained in the database. The pumping stations are checked on a weekly or biweekly <br />schedule. Critical key spare pumps, motors and electrical supplies are maintained on-site. <br />Redundancy is designed into each of the pumping stations. At this time staff feels the level of <br />monitoring and control is more than adequate and utilizes best management practices. • <br />Section 5 Plan for the Assessment of all Lift Stations that will assure <br />Adequate Capacity and/or an Alternative Power Source <br />The City of San Marcos contracted with PBS&J to undertake a Wastewater Master Plan. This <br />master plan utilized a dynamic hydraulic model (InfoWorks) that was calibrated from flow metering <br />data collected with the system. A Draft Master Plan has been submitted for review by the staff and <br />contains recommended Capital Improvements Program (CIP) projects that address pipeline, force <br />main and lift station needs. This capacity analysis will be the basis for ensuring adequate capacity <br />within the wastewater collection system. <br />Standby generators are in-place on seven key lift stations. The staff will evaluate each lift station <br />and develop a plan to address power failures both widespread and local outages. Options the staff <br />will consider include: <br />1. Installation of standby generators <br />2. Purchase of portable standby generators and retrofit pump stations for external power sources <br />3. Purchase of portable standby engine driven pumps and retrofit pump station piping <br />4. Prepare mutual aid agreements with surrounding communities <br />5. Use of vacuum truck or other short term pumping/hauling options <br />• <br />4 <br />
