4. Risk Management Plan <br />All project staff will attend four days of training before nature camps begin. This training will cover a <br />range of risk management issues, including: first aid procedures, emergency contacts, behavior <br />guidelines, staff expectations and guidelines for each field trip and activity. All volunteers will <br />undergo screening, including criminal background checks, and will be required to attend an <br />orientation and training prior to working with youth in the program. The safety training model has <br />been used by the City of San Marcos for the past 25 years. <br />5. CO-OP Grant Activities <br />The San Marcos Nature Center will offer the following activities to targeted youth through free <br />summer and Saturday nature camps in 2010 and 2011: <br />• Environmental education programs <br />• Nature hikes <br />• Bird-watching <br />• Wildlife viewing <br />• Plant identification <br />• Outdoor service project (butterfly house habitat development) <br />Priority Funding Elements <br />1.
