<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />October 27, 2003 <br /> <br />3. <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU BOARD; <br />PROVISIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />INCLUDING <br /> <br />PROCEDURAL <br /> <br />Mr. Thomaides moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency including <br />the option regarding the owner/operator tourism business within the city <br />and Ms. Narvaiz seconded the motion. Mr. Taylor stated he feels the <br />Ordinance should read Ulikely to generate hotel occupancy taxes for the <br />City". He feels if a business from another City generates overnight <br />visitors for our City, then that owner/operator should be eligible to <br />serve. Mr. Thomaides stated every CVB Board Member was voted on due to <br />the location of their business. Mr. Mihalkanin stated this Ordinance only <br />allows for businesses located in San Marcos, but the owner/operator can <br />reside outside the City. Ms. Narvaiz stated she feels the goals of the <br />appointments should be for people who wanted input from those who would be <br />impacted. Mr. Mihalkanin stated he feels the owner/operators should be <br />located in the City when it comes to expenditures of City tax dollars. On <br />roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Narvaiz, Thomaides, Mihalkanin, Habingreither, Montoya, Diaz. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Taylor. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced for consideration one appointment to the <br />Hu~an Services Advisory Board. Mr. Thomaides moved to appoint Carmen <br />Castro, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced for consideration one appointment to the <br />Minority Economic Development and Tourism Development Advisory Board. Ms. <br />Narvaiz moved to appoint Lydia Marie Trevino as the San Marcos Industrial <br />Foundation representative, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced for consideration two appointments to the <br />Convention and Visitors Bureau Board. Mr. Montoya moved to appoint Pat <br />Murdock as the Texas State University San Marcos Association/Media/Public <br />Relations representative, which passed unanimously. The remaining <br />appointment will be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither <br />Library Board. Ms. <br />Mihalkanin moved to <br />Mayor Habingreither <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />introduced for consideration four appointments to the <br />Narvaiz moved to reappoint Melvia Randle, Mr. <br />reappoint Donna Swinney and appoint Dianne Pape, and <br />moved to reappoint Barbara Hatcher, which passed <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced for consideration reconsideration of a <br />Zoning Ordinance.
