Lifelong Learning Project
Program Narrative--page 20

The Questionnaire will be used to determine the effectiveness of advertising methods,
progrem content, end the program leader. The Coordinator w111 make a monthly report to the
Pub lie Services Supervisor who wi1l be responsib Ie for adding the project statistics to the
general library monthly report.

Development of the life skills collection will be OOcumented as items are cataloged, processed
and inventoried into the collection. These statistics wi11 be reported as a special cateçpry on
the library's monthly inventory report.

It is anticipated that the project will have a highly visible impact on the library's over-aU
programm ing statist ics, borrower registration, and collection inventory statistics. We
expect that the impact on the library, on the EOC, and on the community wil1 be great.

XII. COOPERATION

This project was planned in cooperation with the Southwest Texas State University
Educational Opportunity Center which is located in San Marcos. The library and the EOC are
committed to a succesful cooperative effort to carry out the long range ~Is of the project.
An agreement of cooperation signed by representatives of both agencies may be found in
Appendix A.

The Friends of the San Marcos Public Library are also committed to working with the
project. The Friends wi11 contribute $600.00 to the project budget if we are sucœsful in
obtaining the lSCA, TiUe I ,grant. A letter of intent to support the project may be found in
Appendix B.

This project was planned with the support of many other organizations and agencies in San
Marcos, who have pledged to help the project in various ways. The Hays County Probation
Department wi11 be an important source of student referrals for the project, as wi11 the
Adult Education Program at the San Marcos High Schoo1. Other organizations, such as
Community Action, and the Women's Commission wil1 help to advertise the pr(JJram. Since
these organizations deal with many edu1ts who have less than a twelfth grade education, their
cooperation is important. These organizations wi } be an important source of perhaps the
best methoo of oovertts1ng, word-of-mouth oovert1sing. Letters of support from these
organizations may be found in Appendix C.
