To implement a Lifelong Learning Project which will encourage adults <br />with less than a twelfth grade education to become regular users of the <br />library by offering them a meaningful program of services and materials <br />designed to help them lead fuller, more productive lives. <br /> <br />2.) To train tutors to provide effective adult basic education and CEO <br />tutoring to adults with less than a twelfth grade education. <br /> <br />3.) To pub I idze the services and resources available through the project <br />for adults with less than a twelfth grade education. <br />SUMMARY OF OBJECTIVES <br />AND ACTIVITIES: <br /> <br />An LSCA, Title I, grant will enable us to hire a part-time employee to <br />serve as a Coordinator for the Lifelong Learning Project. The Coordinator <br />will recruit and train tutors for the adult education tutoring program; <br />recruit students from the target population for the tutoring program; <br />match students and tutors for compatibility; conduct a series of life skills <br />workshops for adults in our target population; and develop an aggressive <br />publicity program to promote use of the library by members of the target <br />group. <br /> <br />In addition, members of the library staff will develop and organize a <br />collection of library materials designed to meet the special informational, <br />educational and recreational needs of adults with less than a twelfth <br />grade education. <br /> <br />10-1 <br />
