<br />-2- <br /> <br />(3) request the jurors needed for cases that are set for trial by <br />jury; <br /> <br />(4) temporarily assign judges or substitute judges to exchange <br />benches and to sit and act for each other in a proceeding pending in <br />a court if necessa~y for the expeditious disposition of business in <br />the courts; <br /> <br />(5) cause the records of the courts to be permanently kept and <br />made available for inspection by interested parties at all reasonable <br />times; <br /> <br />(6) maintain as part of the records of the courts an index of <br />judgments similar to the index maintained by county clerks for <br />criminal cases arising in county courts; and <br /> <br />(7) if necessa~y for the proper functioning of the courts, <br />provide for microfilm preservation of the records of the courts under <br />the same requirements provided by law for microfilm preservation of <br />records in the custody of a county clerk. <br /> <br />(f) The judges or substitute judges may exchange benches and may sit <br />and act for each other in any proceeding pending in the courts. An <br />act performed by any of the judges is binding on all parties to the <br />proceeding. <br /> <br />(g) A municipal judge shall comply with the financial statement <br />requirements under Chapter 421, Acts of the 63rd Legislature, Regular <br />Session, 1973 (Article 6252-9b, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes.) <br /> <br />(h) A municipal judge is entitled to a salary from the city, the <br />amount of which is determined by the governing body of the city and may <br />not be diminished during the judge's term of office. The salary may <br />not be based directly or indirectly on fines, fees, or costs that the <br />judge is required by law to collect during the term of office. <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />30.505. <br /> <br />Clerk; Other Personnel <br /> <br />(a) The governing body of the city shall provide a clerk of the <br />municipal courts of record. The City is not required to record <br />testimony in a case in which neither the defendant, the prosecutor, <br />nor the judge demands it. <br /> <br />Section 30.507. <br /> <br />Court Facilities <br /> <br />The governing body of the city shall provide courtrooms, jury rooms, <br />offices, office furniture, libraries, law books, and other facilities <br />and supplies that the governing body determines are necessary for the <br />proper operation of the municipal courts of record. <br />
