f'" 114 ORDINANCE 1987-89 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI'rY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORDERING A JOINT SPECIAL ELECTION BY SAID CITY AND THE COUNTY OF HAYS, TEXAS TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ON AUGUST 8, 1987 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING THE ADOPTION OF AN ADDITIONAL ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT ( 1/2 % ) LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY TO REDUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE, AND SAID JOINT SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD WITHIN AND WITHOUT THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING THE ADOPTION OF AN ADDITIONAL ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT (1/2%) LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE COUNTY TO REDUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE, ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF COMPENSATION TO BE PAID JUDGES, CLERKS, AND ASSISTANTS TO THE TABULATION SUPERVISOR FOR SERVICES RENDERED DURING SAID ELECTION, MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION AND OTHER PROVISIONS INCIDENT TO THE PURPOSES OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That, in accordance with the provisions of Articles III, V, and XII of the Charter of the City of San Marcos and the laws of the State of Texas, so far as the same may be applicable, a joint special election by the Ci t.y of San Marcos, Texas and County of Hays shall be held, and the same is ordered and directed to be held, at the various polling places and election precincts within and without the corporate limits of the City of San Marcos, Texas, as hereinafter designated, on the 8th day of August, 1987, from the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which joint special election there shall be considered for adoption an additional one-half of one percent (1/2%) local sales and use tax within the City to reduce the property tax rate and at said joint special election there shall be considered for adoption an additional one-half of one percent (1/2%) local sales and use ta~ within the County to reduce the property tax rate. SECTION 2. That the election precincts for said elections shall be, in all respects, the same precincts as those Hays County Election Precincts which are within the limits of the City of San Marcos and Hays County. SECTION 3.
