<br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE <br /> <br />Definitions <br /> <br />customer - Any person, partnership, corporation, municipaiity, <br />governmental agency, cooperative, or other entity receiving <br />electric service from the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />connected Load - A customer's connected load is the sum of the <br />continuous rated capacities, or in the absence of such rated <br />capaci ties, the maximum demand determined by test where <br />necessary, of all energy consuming devices on customer's <br />premises, expressed in kilowatts or horsepower. <br /> <br />Demand or Load - The load at the receiving terminals averaged <br />over a specified interval of time expressed in kilowatts or <br />kilovolt-amperes. <br /> <br />Horsepower (HP) - The unit of mechanical power representing rate <br />of consumption of power and equivalent to 746 watts. <br /> <br />Kilowatt (kW) - The unit of electric power, representing the rate <br />of consumption equivalent to 1,000 watts. <br /> <br />Kilovolt-ampere (kVa) - The unit of electric power representing <br />the rate of consumption equivalent to one kilowatt at 100% <br />power factor. <br /> <br />Kilowatt-hour (kWh) - The consumption of energy equivalent to the <br />use of one kilowatt for one hour. <br /> <br />Energy Charge - A charge for the kilowatt-hours used. <br /> <br />Power Factor <br />amperes. <br /> <br />Operating Agent - The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) <br /> <br />The <br /> <br />ratio of the kilowatts to the kilovol t- <br /> <br />Month - The period between two successive monthly meter readings <br />taken as nearly as practicable, on the same day of each <br />calendar month. <br /> <br />Point of Delivery - The point at which the customer's wiring and <br />installation connect at a single voltage with the facilities <br />of the City or other party as arranged by the city. <br /> <br />Demand Charge - A charge for the kilowatts billed. <br />
