<br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE <br /> <br />Deposits <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />ApPlication <br /> <br />Each applicant for service will be required to make a cash <br />deposit with the City to establish or re-establish credit <br />before service will be rendered. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Amount of Deposit <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The required deposit for residential and general ser- <br />vices customers shall be the greater of <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />$50.00 or <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />an amount equivalent to one-sixth (1/6) of either <br />the estimated annual billings to that service <br />location or an estimated annual billing to similar <br />dwellings or services. <br /> <br />The City may require a deposit sufficient to reason- <br />ably protect it against the assumed risk of temporary, <br />weekend, or personal service, provided such policy is <br />applied in a uniform and nondiscriminatory manner. <br /> <br />These deposits shall be returned accordinq to guidelines set <br />out in subsection E. below. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />Deposits not Transferrabte <br /> <br />Deposits are non transferrable and will be refunded and/or <br />applied to the final bill 'upon disconnection of service. <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Records of Deposits <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The City shall keep records to show: <br /> <br />(a) <br />(b) <br /> <br />The name and address of each depositor and; <br />The amount and date of the deposits. <br /> <br />(2) The City shall issue a receipt of deposit to each <br />applicant from whom a deposit is received, and shall <br />,provide means whereby a depositor may establish claim <br />if the receipt is lost. <br /> <br />A record of each unclaimed deposit must be maintained <br />for at least four years, during which time the City <br />shall make a reasonable effort to return the deposit. <br /> <br />(3) <br />
