DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City to correct employee job <br /> <br />performance deficiencies when they occur. <br /> <br />Supervisors shall <br /> <br />deal with performance deficiencies and employees shall be <br />treated fairly and consistently. <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />DISCIPLINE <br /> <br />In implementing the disciplinary procedure outlined <br /> <br />below, a supervisor shall consider such factors as the <br />type and severity of the offense, the employee's work <br /> <br />record, and any mitigating circumstances surrounding the <br /> <br />offense. <br /> <br />Employees have the right to appeal certain <br /> <br />disciplinary actions through the grievance procedure <br /> <br />outlined in these policies. <br /> <br />(See Section XII <br /> <br />GRIEVANCES) <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Basis for Disciplinary Action - Offenses constituting <br />grounds for disciplinary action include, but shall <br /> <br />not be limited to the following major categories: <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />Misconduct <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />Absenteeism (see Section VIII-B-4 Repeated <br />Unexcused Absencies) <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Insubordination <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />Violation of Personnel Policies <br />Violation of safety policies or other city or <br /> <br />f. <br /> <br />departmental rules and regulations. <br /> <br />-61- <br />
