APPENDIX <br />This Appendix contains job descriptions to support the new EDO, <br />Marcos Economic Development. While some of these positions will likely be filled by <br />existing staff, these descriptions help to delineate responsibil <br />organization. <br /> <br />D,GSMED <br />IRECTOR REATER AN ARCOS CONOMIC EVELOPMENT <br />The Director will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the <br />Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy and will managestaff operations. The <br />Director must also work at the highest levels of integrity, honesty, and <br />create strong and enduring relationships with key leaders in the Greater San Marcos <br />public and private community. <br />Responsibilities <br />Implement the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. <br />Work toward the specific goals and objectives identified in the Strategy and <br />achieve the individual action steps identified in the plan. <br />Carry out the first year work program and subsequent annual work programs. <br />Work closely with members of the GSMED Board, the San Marcos Area <br />Chamber of Commerce, elected officials, the business community, and other <br />relevant parties, to advance regional economic development. <br />Create and effectively lead a focused and highly dedicated team <br />committed to the development and execution of a highly effective <br />organization. <br />Serve as the Boards principal spokesperson to ensure that a str <br />communications effort is in place that meets internal and external needs. <br />Demonstrate, by example, the integrity, partnership, leadership, <br />commitment expected from all constituencies connected to the org <br />Monitor and evaluate on a regular basis, the organizations finaial status <br />and take appropriate actions to manage the fiscal aspects of the <br />Qualifications <br />The ideal candidate will be a strong leader and skilled manager <br />measurable track record of success in highly regarded economic dnt <br />nonprofit or governmental organizations. This individual must be <br />demonstrate how those organizations prospered as a result of his <br />and direction. Specific experience and skills include: <br />Executive experience in a mission-driven organization with a scope and <br />complexity that is commensurate with the new EDO. <br />Implementation Plan 42 <br />September 2009 <br /> <br />
