BRE(BRE)PM <br />USINESS ETENTION AND XPANSION ROGRAM ANAGER <br />The BRE Program Manager will report to the Director of Greater San Marcos <br />Economic Development. The BRE Program Manager performs a wide variety of <br />activities, including cultivating business retention and expansion support services to <br />help existing companies grow and thrive, focusing on the needs and interests of <br />existing businesses in the area, and improving the competitiveness of the <br />community’s business climate. <br />Responsibilities <br />Assist in implementing a targeted program that integrates multiple platforms <br />to influence and build relationships with prospects, consultants <br />decision makers, and media information sources. <br />Provide outreach to existing businesses. <br />Establish and strengthen relationships with local businesses. <br />Provide information to existing businesses regarding the availability of <br />assistance programs. <br />Discover and confirm local service and location advantages for use in <br />marketing Greater San Marcos to firms considering a new location. <br />Identify service or location deficiencies which hinder economic developme, <br />develop strategies to eliminate or mitigate the deficiencies. <br />Qualifications <br />Requires any combination of training, education, and experience <br />to a Bachelor’s Degree in economic development, business or public <br />administration, real estate, economics, or a related field. <br />Extensive (5+ years) progressively responsible experience in a related field. <br />Extensive network base of professional contacts within the site and <br />real estate development industry. <br />A solid understanding of factors affecting business location dec <br />including sites, workforce, permits, and regulations for construction. <br />Excellent strategic planning and project management skills. <br />Cooperative team player. <br />Able to work in a fast paced, competitive environment. <br />Strong leadership skills and the ability to organize, influence, and work <br />cooperatively with business, community, and government leaders. <br />Membership in related professional organizations, the ability to speak a <br />second language, and designation as a Certified Economic Developer (CED) <br />are desirable. <br />Education <br />Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college required. <br />A Master’s Degree in one of the fields outlined above. <br />Implementation Plan 46 <br />September 2009 <br /> <br />
