WEM <br />ORKFORCE AND DUCATION ANAGER <br />The Education and Workforce Development Manager will report to the Director of <br />Greater San Marcos Economic Development. The ideal candidate will possess <br />initiative, project management skills, professionalism and communication skithe <br />ability to work with diverse groups and gain consensus, and an understanding of <br />education and workforce data resources. <br />Responsibilities <br />Coordinate the initiative to bring a two-year college campus into Greater San <br />Marcos. <br />Work with Gary Job Corps in securing resources to improve campus facilities <br />and align programming to the region’s target audiences. <br />Serve as a liaison to area Pre-K–12 institutions, assisting them with programs <br />that are critical to the vitality of the region, such as (but not limited to) school- <br />to-work, early college, dropout prevention, and intern and apprenti <br />programs. <br />Work with Pre-K–12 institutions to spread positive news stories with regional <br />media. <br />Ensure that Texas State University–San Marcos has community support <br />needed to generate state and federal research dollars and can progress plans <br />to expand key target industry programs in the region. <br />Encourage Texas State University to continue and increase its in <br />the area’s economic development. <br />Qualifications <br />Requires any combination of training, education, and experience a related <br />field. <br />Five+ years experience in an educational, community development, or <br />economic development environment. <br />A solid understanding of education and workforce development factors <br />affecting business location decisions, the local economy, and a community’s <br />ability to be competitive. <br />Ability to work with diverse groups of stakeholders and manage m <br />projects. <br />Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel). <br />Public speaking and presentation skills. <br />Detail and people oriented. <br />Education <br />Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college required. <br />Master’s Degree in a related area such as planning, business or public <br /> <br />administration, or education is preferred. <br />Implementation Plan 47 <br />September 2009 <br /> <br />
