o <br />Tout student achievements in Greater San Marcos’ economic <br />development and Chamber publications and at stakeholder events, <br />like SMCISD’s designation by Education Week as one of the nation’s <br /> <br />top 50 “overachieving districts” in graduation rate improvements <br />o <br />Offer assistance to SMCISD, as needed, with the implementation of <br /> <br />its communications strategy. <br />As the region’s largest employer, Texas State University-San Marcos plays a vital role <br />within the Greater San Marcos economy. Under the direction of the state’s “Closing <br />the Gaps” initiative, a statewide effort to transition a greater number of Texas high <br />school students into college, the University will grow its enrollment capacity in the <br />coming years. Concurrently, the University has been rigorously building its research <br />assets in materials science and other priority areas in an effort to raise its profile as a <br />world-class research university. TXST’s growth brings with it tremen <br />development opportunities.
