Lead <br />Year 1 Task Name <br />Agency <br />Support the growth of San Marcos Municipal Airport so that facilities and the Foreign <br />GSMED <br />Trade Zone can be fully maximized. <br />Corporate and Professional Operations <br />Identify professional service leakages through the Grow One ProgGSMED <br />Create an information packet for prospective developers of Class <br />packet should list sites that have been identified for potential <br />any relevant incentive programs, and provide demographic and ecoGSMED <br />illustrating demand for quality office space development in Greate <br />the packet available online and distribute at developer tours. <br />Action 2: Pursue emerging industries that will improve the long-term vitality of Greater San Marcos. <br />Green Industries <br />Position a Greater San Marcos representative on the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce’s <br />Green Job Steering Committee, to be formed in response to its Green Jobs Task Force report <br />GSMED <br />(issued in June 2009). The Steering Committee will organize the region so that it can truly <br />develop into center for Green jobs. <br />Support the start up and location of Green companies interested in connecting with <br />GSMED, <br />TXSTs talent and research assets. Offer additional support as <br />TXST <br />funds for these businesses. <br />Support the passage of the Manufacturing Progress and Clean Technology (IMPACT) Act of <br />2009, which would provide money to states for revolving loan funds to help manufacturers GSMED <br />improve their energy efficiency and transition to more Green/clean operation systems. <br />Goal III: Quality of Place <br />Objective 1: Promote Downtown development and tourism in the Greater San Marcos area. <br />Action 1: Prioritize the continued improvement of Greater San Marcos’ historic Downtowns. <br />Leverage the San Marcos Downtown Master Plan process to enhance <br />among City and County entities related to Downtown-area development, parking needs, CSM <br />parks and greenspace improvements, and environmental resources. <br />Use the Master Plan as a basis to develop a land use plan, urban design guidelines, and <br />CSM <br />zoning codes. <br />Regularly update a parcel-by-parcel inventory of Downtown and Main Street <br />CSM <br />neighborhoods, and assess the potential highest and best use of <br />Assess existing development code regulations and their viability to facilitate additional <br />CITIES <br />Downtown rehabilitation work. <br />Identify and address any existing code regulations that make rehabilitation fiscally prohibitive.CITIES <br />Action 2: Improve and effectively market the visitor experience to the area’s historic Downtowns. <br />Provide the resources necessary for the San Marcos Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (CVB) <br />GSMED <br />to continue its work to attract visitors, conventions, and events to San Marcos. <br />Create a “Destination San Marcos” package to market to visitors.
