<br />36 <br /> <br />regular meeting, march 12, 1979 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE TIME WITHIN <br />WHICH THE TEXAS MUSEUM OF HISTORY, INC. <br />WILL RETAIN THE POWERS GRANTED BY <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1974-48, APPROVED ON <br />SEPTEMBER 9, 1974, AND OF RECORD IN <br />VOLUME 44, PAGE 47, OF THE MINUTES OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL, AND LATER AMENDED BY <br />ORDINANCE 1977-46, APPROVED NOVEMBER 7, <br />1977, AND OF RECORD IN VOLUME 47, PAGE <br />168, OF THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />WHICH DEDICATED A CERTAIN TRACT OF REALTY <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF A PUBLIC MUSEUM, SAID <br />TRACT TO BE USED FOR A MUSEUM, SAID <br />MUSEUM TO BE CONSTRUCTED UNDER THE <br />MANAGEMENT OF THE TEXAS MUSEUM OF HISTORY, <br />INC.; EXTENDING THE TIME WITHIN WHICH THE <br />BUILDING MUST BE COMPLETED; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER OF SAN MARCOS TO ENTER <br />INTO CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS WITH TEXAS <br />MUSEUM OF HISTORY, INC., AND TO TAKE ALL <br />STEPS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE INTENTS <br />AND PURPOSES EXPRESSED HEREIN. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be adopted on third and final <br />reading. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING <br />THE BID OF SAN MARCOS TELEPHONE COMPANY, <br />INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF A PORTION OF <br />LOTS 16 AND 17 OF THE MILLVIEW ADDITION <br />TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A <br />SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED TO SAID BIDDER ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, IN <br />TRUST, FOR ITSELF, THE STATE OF TEXAS, <br />THE COUNTY OF HAYS, AND THE SAN MARCOS <br />CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT; <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the ordinance be adopted on third and <br />final reading. Mr. James seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Colonel Jack N. Stovall carne before the City Council to <br />report that a proposal had been received by the Airport <br />Commission for the construction of additional T-hangars <br />at the San Marcos Municipal Airport. Mr. Stovall informed <br />the Council that the proposed hangars were larger than those <br />owned by the City, that they would be privately constructed <br />and leased on a commercial basis. Mr. Stovall also said <br />that no action had been taken by the Commission and none was <br />requested of the City Council at this point. Next Colonel <br />Stovall discussed a proposal for the construction of I <br />additional T-hangars by the City. Mr. Harvey Shephard, <br />also a member of the Airport Commission, explained that the <br />T-hangars to be constructed by the City would be exactly the <br />type and size previously constructed. Mayor Cavazos moved <br />the staff be authorized to proceed with planning for the <br />construction of nine additional T-hangars to be financed <br />through the certificates of obligation method. Mr. Sutton <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an appeal from the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission's disapproval of the Castle Forest Subdivision <br />plat. That appeal is attached and made a part of thse minutes. <br />Mr. Paul Jones, Attorney for the applicant ANNCO, Inc., carne <br />before the Council to say that the proposed subdivision was in <br />compliance with all City codes, that it met all minimum <br />
