B. Pryatel, Gilbert Jaimes, Marcos Hernandez, Ralph Gonzales, George Boeker, Terry Roberts, James Velasquez, Ramiro Rodriguez, Leon Barba, Ken Kraus, Catherine Johnson, Bill Nicola, Scott Yarbrough, Ofelia Vasquez, Jeff Watkins, Donna Phillips, Gilbert Tenorio, Augustin Lucio, Alicia Martinez, Frances Emery, Gary Bond, Carl Anderson, Chris Bishop, Ronald Alvis, CM~ James Piper, Hortencia Prado, Fred Villanueva, and others. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, March 12, 1979 were approved on motion of Mr. Hansen and second of Mr. James. Mayor Cavazos next introduced Item #6 out of order. Mr. Cavazos explained that the residents along Roosevelt Street had expressed objections to the reconstruction plan recently approved by the City Council. He then opened a public hearing to elicit responses from those citizens. Those coming before the Council to object to the improvement of Roosevelt Street as a four lane thoroughfare were Ramona Rodriguez, Rev. Ronald Alvis, Ralph Gonzales, Fred Villanueva, Hortencia Prado, Jim Piper, representing the Legal Aid Society of Central Texas. Those persons explained to the Council that they were opposed to the increase in traffic through the neighborhood and also to the relocation of 41 families from the neighborhood. They requested the Council improve Roosevelt Street as a two lane street and provide curbing and drainage. Following the public hearing, Mr. Hyatt moved to amend the Roosevelt Street Reconstruction Plan to provide for improvement of the street as a two lane street and with the inclusion of sidewalks. Mr. James seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, REAPPROPRIATING FUNDS ORIGINALLY APPROPRIATED BY ORDINANCE 1977-36, ADOPTED ON SEPTEMBER 12, 1977 AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be adopted on third and final reading. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
