I I I 100 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, MAY 7, 1979 Present: Robert L. Cavazos John A. Tenorio City Manager City Secretary City Attorney Director of Public Safety Director of Public Works Director of Community Services Royal Dunlap Doriss Hambrick Barbara Jean Edwards Robert Minnie Ray Kotowski Albert Sierra Also Present: George Dashner, Ruth King, Marvin Kaderli, Bill Cunningham, Luciano Flores, Kenneth Long, Chris Bishop, Joel Barnard, Jerri Martin, Corliss Dees, Guadalupe Carbajal, Scott Yarbrough, Austin Curlee, Terry Roberts, James Velasquez, Marcos Hernandez, Father Ron Alvis, George Flores, Donna Phillips, Chris Banbury, Bob Barton, Kaye Kotowski, Jack Stovall, Gary Bond, Johanna Hansen, Joe Garza, and others. Mayor Cavazos called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. Mr. James moved approval of the minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, April 30, 1979. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. Mr. Breihan requested that the minutes be amended on Page 2 to insert the increased amount of replacement housing payments as specified in the Resolution adopted and recorded on that page. Mr. James and Mr. Hansen approved the amendment to the motion to adopt the minutes which was unanimously approved. Mayor Cavazos issued proclamations in observance of Heart Association Week, National Hospital Week, and National Nursing Home Week. Mayor Cavazos introduced for consideration canvass of the returns of the Special Election held May 5, 1979. The official canvass as made by the City Council is attached and made a part of these minutes. Mr. Cavazos read the caption of a iesolution as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULT OF A SPECIAL CITY ELECTION HELD MAY 5, 1979. Mr. Hansen moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Mayor Cavazos then presented a Certificate of Election to Berry R. James, Council Member elected to Place 6 [recently redesignated Place 5). The City Secretary issued the Oath of Office to re-elected Council Member James. Mayor Cavazos opened the floor for nominations/for Mayor. Mr. Breihan nominated Council Member Bob Hyatt. Mr. James nominated Council Member John A. Hansen. On the roll call, Council Members voted as follows: HANSEN: HYATT: ABSTAIN: Tenorio, Hansen, James Breihan, Hyatt, Sutton Cavazos. The Mayor declared the vote tied. Mr. Sutton left the Council
