Mr. Breihan moved the meetings be <br />rescheduled to August 29th and September 5th. Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an ordinance having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, REPEAL- <br />ING THE 1% CITY SALES TAX ON RESIDENTIAL <br />USE OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY WITHIN THE <br />CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS; <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be adopted on first reading. <br />Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an ordinance having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, FORMALLY <br />ACCEPTING THE DEDICATION TO PUBLIC USE <br />OF A 60-FOOT WIDE STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS "SPRINGTOWN WAY", WHICH <br />IS LOCATED BETWEEN, AND WHICH CONNECTS <br />THE WEST ACCESS ROAD OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY <br />35 AND THORPE LANE; ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan wanted to know why the street needed to be formally <br />accepted now. Mayor Cavazos explained the housing authority <br />needed a committment. Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be adopted. <br />Mr. Breihan seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an ordinance having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, FORMALLY <br />ABANDONING A PORTION OF THE DEDICATED <br />STREETS AND PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY IN THAT <br />TRACT KNOWN AS WINDMILL ADDITION FOR THE <br />EXPRESS PURPOSE OF FACILITATING THE <br />REDESIGN, REPLAT AND REDEDICATION OF <br />ALTERNATE STREETS AND PUBLIC RIGHTS OF <br />WAY WITHIN SAID PORTION OF SAID ADDITION; <br />ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved the ordinance be approved on emergency. <br />with the modified Exhibit B which provides for a slight <br />adjustment to locate an easement in the Elm Street right-of-way. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration allocation of funds <br />from the 1977-1978 budget for purchase of a tractor for <br />landfill operations. Mr. Arredondo moved the $39,000 be <br />allocated for the purchase of a tractor. Mr. Hansen seconded <br />the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration a request for use of <br />an easement located near the intersection of Hopkins and Moore <br />'Streets. Mr. Jon Holmstrom was present to answer any questions. <br />Mr. James moved this request be tabled for one week. <br />Mr. Arredondo seconded the motion. On roll call, the following <br />vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: James, Sutton, Arredondo, Hansen, <br />Cavazos, Hyatt <br />NAY: Breihan. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration a contract for fire <br />protection for properties located outside the City limits <br />
