<br />40 <br /> <br />regular meeting, august 21, 1978 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING <br />SECTION 3"OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGU" <br />LATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED <br />MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE <br />ZONING OF LOT #7 OF THE ROGERS SUBDIVISION <br />NUMBER 1, LOCATED AT 401 LINDA DRIVE, FROM <br />"C" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C"2" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be adopted on third reading. <br />Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion. On roll call, the follow- <br />ing vote was' recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Hyatt, Sutton, Arredondo, Hansen, <br />Cavazos <br />NAY: James, Breihan. <br /> <br />Mayor Cavazos introduced a report from the Industrial Task <br />Force. The report is attached and made a part of these <br />minutes. Mr. Arredondo thanked Mr. Richard Burdick and <br />the members of the Task Force on their time devoted to work <br />on the proposal. Mr. Arredondo suggested the report be on <br />next week's agenda. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration a request for the <br />use of City Park for travel trailers. Mr. James Crawford <br />was present to state the opposition of the Parks and <br />Recreation Board. He stated it would cost from $12,000 to <br />$15,000 to reset the park for the travel trailers. He also <br />stated it would interfere with the use of the park by the <br />citizens of San Marcos and the programs presently using the <br />park (soccer and Little League). Mr. John Morrisset, I <br />representing the Retail and Service Merchants Association, <br />requested the Council consider favorably the request for use <br />of City Park by large caravans. Mr. Robert Gaertner, owner <br />of a local commercial camp ground, told the Council he could <br />accommodate rallies having as many as thirty trailers. <br />Mr. Cavazos moved the Council call the Wally Byam Caravan <br />to talk to them or have them come to San Marcos and give <br />the request further consideration. Mr. Breihan seconded the <br />motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AWARDING A <br />CONTRACT TO FOR THE MAINTENANCE <br />OF SAN MARCOS CEMETERY, AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE SAME ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS. <br /> <br />The City Secretary stated Mr. Stanley Stemen's work was <br />excellent and most satisfactory. She stated Mr. Stemen had <br />the Cemetery maintenance for three years now. Mrs. Hambrick <br />stated Allen's Cabinet Shop's references were good but he <br />had never done any grounds maintenance work. She also I <br />stated Mr. Morris Williams had worked for the cemetery before, <br />too. Mr. Breihan moved Allen's Cabinet Shop's bid be accept- <br />ed for the amount of $18,950. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion. <br />On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Breihan, Hansen, Cavazos, Hyatt, <br />James <br />NAY: Sutton, Arredondo. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo thanked Mr. Stanley Stemen for his excellent <br />performance in maintenance of the City Cemetery. <br />
