<br />I <br /> <br />PROPOSED WORVING OF C1IARTER I3;\SED ON <br />RECO,lMENDATlONS OF 1978 CHARTER REVIEW CO~l"\lSSION <br /> <br />1. Section 3.01. Number, Selection and Term. <br /> <br />The legislative and governing body of the City shall consist <br />of seven (7) Council Members and shall be kno\m as "the Ci ty <br /> <br />Council of San ~Iarcos". <br /> <br />(a) The members of the City Council shall be <br /> <br />elected from the City at large, and each <br /> <br />Council Member shall be elected to occupy <br /> <br />a place on the Council, such places being <br /> <br />numbered and designated 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 <br /> <br />and Mayor. <br /> <br />(b) Each Council Member for places 1, 2, 3, 4, <br /> <br />5 and 6 shall hold office for a period of <br />three (3) years, staggered so that two (2) <br /> <br />members shall be elected to a regular term <br /> <br />each year. The Council Member elected to <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />the place of Mayor shall hold office for a <br /> <br />period of two (2) years. Upon adoption of <br /> <br />this Charter amendment, the present members <br /> <br />of the City Council shall serve until the <br /> <br />terms to which they were elected shall have <br /> <br />expired, and until their successors shall <br /> <br />have qualified. At the first Regular <br /> <br />Election held under the terms of this new <br /> <br />Charter provision on April 5, 1980, there <br /> <br />shall be elected two (2) Council Members <br />
