<br />35 <br /> <br />regular meeting, may 10, 1976 <br /> <br />. page three <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF RIGHT-OF-WAY PRESENTLY <br />BEING USED BY THE PUBLIC ON THAT PROPERTY COMMONLY KNOWN AS "THE OLD <br />MILL PROPERTY" SITUATED IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; QUITCLAIMING <br />SAID ABANDONED AREA TO THE ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNER; PROVIDING FOR THE <br />TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH ABANDONMENT; AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OE <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS TO EXECUTE SAID QUITCLAIM DEED ON BEHALF OF THE CU'Y. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on second reading. Mr. Cavazos <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ENACTING A DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN; APPROVING A DEFERRED COMPEN- <br />SATION PLAN SALARY REDUCTION AUTHORIZATION; ESTABLISHING A CLEARANCE <br />PROCESS FOR AGENTS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the Ordinance be adopted on third and final reading. Mr.Hansen <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved that item #6, an ordinance reducing the number of authorized <br />police sergeants, be brought from the table. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. In response to Mr. Breihan's earlier ~uestion, the <br />City Manager stated that the police sergeants' salary was $776 per month, and <br />the supervisor's salary would be $640 per month. On roll call, the motion. by <br />Mr. Hansen to approve the ordinance on first reading was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />At 8:10 p.m. Mr. Breihan moved to recess to executive session to discuss pending <br />litigation and proposed ac~uisition of easements. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The meeting was reconvened in regular session at 8:45 p.m. on motion of Mr. Hansen <br />and second of Mr. James. Mr. Arredondo moved to authorize the City Attorney to <br />negotiate a settlement of the Texas Water Quality Boaxd suit and report back to <br />the Council. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. :Breihan <br />moved to authorize the City Manager to continue with negotiations for ac~uisition <br />of easements for the Bluebonnet Circle area improvements in the best interests of <br />the City.
