Louis <br />Evans; Melissa Millecam; Gary Bond; Terry Roberts; Jerri Martin; <br />and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held JUne 28, 1976, were approved on motion of <br />Mr. Sutton and second of Mr. Breihan. <br /> <br />Gary Bond presented the City with a tape recording of the Bicentennial Worship <br />Service held July 4, 1976, on behalf of William C. Veidt of KCNY Radio. <br /> <br />Mr. Cavazos moved that James Broussard be appointed to the Charter Review <br />Commission to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. J. Louis Evans. <br />Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. On roll call, the motion was unanimously apfroved. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a change in the z.oning <br />of Lots 11 through 14, San Marcos Heights Addition and an adjacent two acre t.ract <br />out of the T.J. Chambers Addition. The applicants, ~rr. and Mrs. D.B. Thomas were <br />present to request the change. They stated thex they were unable to sell the <br />property with a single family residential zoning, and that they were requesting the <br />multifamily zoning since there was other property with that zoning classification <br />in the area. Present to object to the change in zoning were Mrs. John Dunn, Mrs. <br />Inez Ramsay, Mrs. James Moore and Mrs. Bobbie Gilbert. They stated that the apart- <br />ments in the area created traffic, parking and sewer problems and objected to the <br />addition of any further multifamily zoning in the area. The public hearing "as <br />closed and an ordinance having the following caption was read: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND <br />RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, <br />DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOTS 11, 12, 13 <br />AND 14 IN THE SAN MARCOS HEIGHTS ADDITION AND TWO ADJACENT ACRES, LOCATED <br />AT 1334 NORTH L.B.J. DRIVE, FROM "R-l" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO <br />"D" (MULTIFAMILY). <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved the Ordinance not be approved. Mr. James seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />REQUESTING AN EXCEPTION TO THE POLICY OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF <br />HIGHWAYS AND FUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY-ADMINISTRATION <br />REQUIRING PARALLEL PARKING ALONG ALL STREErS WITHIN THE URBAN <br />TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM THAT ARE TO BE IMPROVED WITH FEDERAL AID <br />SO AS TO ALLOW ANGLE PARKING ON LBJ DRIVE FROM COMAL STREET TO <br />COLORADO STREET. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. <br />On roll call, the motion was unanimously approved. The staff was requested to <br />forward the Resolution, with letters explaining the feeling of the Council and <br />persons having businesses along L.B.J. Drive, to the Texas Highway Department, <br />the Federal Highway Administration and Congressman J.J. Pickle. <br />
