<br />67 <br /> <br />regular meeting, july 12, 1976 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read an Ordinance, the caption of which is as. follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ACCEPTING THE BID OF FRANCISCA CRUZ FOR THE PURCHASE OF LOT 14, <br />BLOCK 5 OF THE C.D. WALLACE SUBDIVISION OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A WARRANTY DEED TO SAID BIDDER <br />ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, IN TRUST, FOR ITSELF, THE STATE <br />OF TEXAS, THE COUNTY OF HAYS, AND THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDE- <br />PENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Cavazos moved the Ordinance be adopted. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The ~ayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE <br />CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE SAN MARCOS PUBLIC SAFETY <br />DEPARl'MENT. ;:J <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Cavazos seconded the <br />motion. Mr. Sutton asked if the equipment would require an increase in <br />personnel. The City Manager replied that it would not. On roll call, the <br />motion was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AND ACCEPTING THE COMFLETION OF CONSTRUCTION ON THE BROAD- <br />WAY STREET AREA IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE FINAL PAY- <br />~ENT FOR THESE IMPROVEMENTS. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Bob Derrick, representing URS/Forrest and Cotten consulting engineers, came I <br />before the Council will the conceptual design for phase II of the Community <br />Development Drainage Confluence project. Mr. Derrick explained that the <br />original plan for phase II of the proj ect, according to the current estimate, <br />was substantially under the amount budgeted. He presented several alternatives <br />to extend the project boundary should the Council wish to do so. The Council <br />discussed the advisability of increasing the budgeted amount slightly to provide <br />for the extensions or reallocating the unused amount for the original project <br />to another project. Mr. Breihan suggested the Texas Highway Department be <br />contacted to see if they would share in the eost of the project along Ranch Road 12. <br />Mr. Breihan moved the engineers be authorized to proceed to the 60% planning stage <br />and include the ext~nsions as proposed by the engineers, asking the Texas Highway <br />Department for assistance. Mayor Craddock seconded the moti6n;~ On roll call, the <br />following vote .was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Breihan;"Craddock <br />NAY: Hansen, James, Sutton, Arredondo, Cavazos. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the engineers be authorized to proceed to the 60% planning stage <br />under the original plan for extending the drainage improvements from Comanche <br />Street, along Hutchison Street and across the Library parking lot ending at Pat <br />Garrison Street, and from the intersection of Moore and Hopkins streets, up <br />Moore Street to intercept the water at the present low water crossing at the <br />intersE>ction of Smith Lane, Moore Street and the San Marcos Baptist Academy. <br />Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING SECTION 19 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS <br />THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, <br />1966 (VOL. 32) TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF TWO <br />ALTERNATE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT TO SERVE IN THE ABSENCE <br />OF ONE OR MORE REGULAR MEMBERS. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the Ordinance be adopted on third and final reading. Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
