<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />regular meeting, may 15, 1978 <br /> <br />154 I <br /> <br />page three <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING <br />ACCEPTANCE OF THE COMPLETION OF THE <br />DRAINAGE CONFLUENCE PROGRAM CONSTRUCTED <br />UNDER THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM; <br />AUTHORIZING FINAL PAYMENT FOR THIS <br />CONSTRUCTION; AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. James moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF <br />HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br />GRANTING PERMISSION FOR THE STATE OR <br />ITS AGENT TO PERFORM WORK AS MAY BE <br />NECESSARY TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM PASSIVE <br />WARNING SYSTEM AT THOSE PUBLIC STREETS/ <br />ROAD GRADE CROSSINGS OF RAILROADS AS <br />DESIGNED IN THE ATTACHED AGREEMENT. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for discussion a request for use of <br />the upstairs portion of the Old City Hall Building on <br />Guadalupe Street. Mr. Phil Waters, representing the <br />San Marcos Community Theatre, in conjunction with the Hays <br />County Art Guild, came before the Council to state his <br />request. He stated the Old City Hall Building would be <br />used for functions relating to community participation in <br />the forms of the arts to include areas such as theatre, <br />dance and art. He also stated they would accept financial <br />responsibility. Mr. Dana1 Terry, representing the Art <br />Guild, told the Council his group would be willing to accept <br />responsibility for scheduling the room. Mrs. Catherine <br />Johnson, Chairman of the Board for Texas Museum of History, <br />,Inc., reported that the museum group wished to encourage <br />the kind of use of the building being requested by Mr. Waters <br />and Mr. Terry. Mayor Cavazos moved to approve non-exclusive <br />use of the upstairs portion of the Old City Hall Building by <br />the San Marcos Community Theatre and the Hays County Art <br />Guild. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m. on motion of Mr. Arredondo <br />and second of Mr. Breihan. <br /> <br />~4Jf~~ <br />CJJ;.
