<br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing on a request in the change in the zoning
<br />of Lots I, 2, 3 and 4, Block 1 of the D.P. Hopkins Second Addition, from
<br />"1m to "C-2". The Planning & Zoning Commission's recommendation was to
<br />deny the request. The applicant, Mrs. Mildred Reeves was present and her request I
<br />was presented by her husband, Mr. Leon Reeves. Mr. Reeves told the Council
<br />that the couple currently opera Fed a tamale stand on the property and wished
<br />to offer beer with the meal. A notarized statement of objections from Santiago
<br />Saenz, a person owing property within 200 feet of the property in question,
<br />has been received andplaced in the official files. Mr. Fermine Islas also
<br />came before the Council to represent residents in the area who objected to
<br />the change in zoning. The Mayor closed the hearing and read an Ordinance
<br />having the following caption:

<br />AMENDING SECTION III OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS
<br />THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LANDS, DATED MAY
<br />23, 1966, VOLUME 32, BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOTS 1, 2, 3, and 4,
<br />BLOCK 1 OF THE D.P. HOPKINS SECOND ADDITION, LOCATED AT THE CORNER
<br />OF EDWARD GARY AND COMAL STREETS FROM "I" (INDUSTRIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL).

<br />Mr. Sutton moved the Ordinance be denied. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion
<br />which passed unanimously.

<br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a change in the
<br />zoning of a 17.105 acre tract of the J.M. Veramendi Survey #2, Abstuact
<br />1117 from "c" .to "I";. The applicant is San Marcos Investments, Incorporated,
<br />Ted Breihan, President. As soon as the Public Hearing was open Mr. Breihan
<br />stepped down from his place at the Council table. His application for
<br />a zoning change was presented by Mr. Harvey Livesy, engineer. Mr. Livesy
<br />informed the Council that the property would be developed under the
<br />regulation of the City's subdivision ordinance. No objections were
<br />received to the proposed zoning change. The Council discussed the
<br />development of the property with Mr. Livesy and Mr. Breihan. The Mayor
<br />closed the hearing and read an Ordinance having the following caption:

<br />Mr. Sutton moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. Dr. Craddock
<br />seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded.

<br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a change in the
<br />zoning of a 15.51 acre tract of land in the J.M. Veramendi Survey #2
<br />Abstract 1117 from "c" to"I". Mr. Livesy also presented this request on I
<br />behalf of the applicant, Mr. Emmett F. McCoy. It was noted the Planning
<br />and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the change. Mr. Fred Gil
<br />with other members of his family, came before the Council to determine the
<br />kind of development proposed and to request consideration of extension of
<br />City water and sewer utilities to their property. Mayor Arredondo promised
<br />Mr. Gil he would look into the matter. The Mayor closed the hearing and
<br />read the caption of an ordinance as follows:
