<br />4 <br /> <br />regular meeting <br /> <br />August 13, 1979 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE AMENDED REVENUE SHARING <br />ENTITLEMENT #8, #9 AND #10 BUDGET FOR THE 1978-1979 <br />FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING ON OCTOBER 1, 1978 AND ENDING <br />ON SEPTEMBER 30, 1979; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be adopted. Mr. Tenorio seconded <br />the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the current cemetery <br />maintenance contract and authorization for bidding procedures <br />for the 1979-1980 maintenance contract. Council discussed <br />various complaints they had received from citizens that the <br />cemetery had not been maintained in a proper manner. The City <br />Secretary reported that the contractor had experienced problems <br />in acquiring personnel and equipment and that many of the complaints <br />that had been received were justified. Mr. James moved to continue <br />under the current maintenance contract until its expiration of <br />September 30, 1979 and to review the contractors performance <br />at that time. Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. Mr. James next moved to authorize bidding the new <br />maintenance contract to be in effect October 1, 1979 and continue <br />for one year. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the extension of a contract <br />for the southeast water line extension. Mr. Kotowski told the <br />Council that the line would extended 1,630 feet at the same contract <br />price. Mr. James moved authorization to extend the contract provisions. <br />Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Mr. Hyatt <br />requested the Council consider annual contracts for construction of <br />utility lines and streets as opposed to contracting on a project <br />basis. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration award of bid for a Sewer <br />Line Extension to the North Industrial Site. Mr. Hyatt moved that <br />the bid of Du-Mor Enterprises in the amount of $61,49l be accepted. <br />Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF THE COMPLETION <br />OF THE CRAWFORD WATERSPHEROID PROJECT; AUTHORIZING FINAL <br />PAYMENT FOR THIS CONSTRUCTION; AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Cavazos moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. Hyatt seconded <br />the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the employment of consultants <br />to assist in improvements to the traffic signalization system. The <br />Director of Public Safety, Mr. Bob Minnie, informed the Council that <br />the traffic engineering consultants would makeout the specifications <br />for installation of three traffic signals which had already been <br />authorized by the Council. Mr. Minnie said the State Highway Department <br />could not assist in preparing the specifications and that it could J <br />not be done by the current City staff. Mr. Minnie also said he had <br />attempted to receive assistance from Travis County officials, but that <br />they were unable to provide the requested assistance. The firm locate <br />by Mr. Minnie to prepare the specifications has agreed to do the job <br />for 7% of the total cost of the project. Mr. Minnie said this was a <br />standard fee.
