<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUITONNO. 72 <br /> <br />73 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ENGAGING FREESE AND NICHOLS, INC. <br />TO PERFORM THE FIRST PHASE IN <br />UPDATING THE CITY'S MASTER PLAN. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City Council and City Planning Commission have <br />expressed the need and desire for updating the City's Master <br />Plan and Development related ordinances; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, $125,000 has been budgeted for updating the Plan and <br />Ordinances; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the City Council's desire to engage a consultant <br />to assist the City in developing the scope and procedures for <br />and to carry out the work on this complex project in concert with <br />the city staff and the steering committees appointed for this <br />purpose; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has interviewed several consulting firms <br />for their ability to perform these and other planning and <br />engineering tasks; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Freese and Nichols, Inc. was found to have the necessary <br />qualifications and experience; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the first phase of this project will require a detailed <br />review of all existing plan elements, ordinances and pOlicies, as <br />well as considerable input from the staff and the Steering Committee <br />and development of a scope and procedure for the desired update; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City Council does hereby engage Freese and <br />Nichols, Inc. to perform the first 'phase (as described above) <br />on an hourly basis for a fee of not less than $50,000. <br /> <br />PART 2. That upon satisfactory presentation of said detailed <br />review of existing plan elements, ordinances and policies, a <br />subsequent agreement will be entered into covering the entire <br />plan, compensation of said agreement not to be less than $50,000. <br /> <br />PART 3. That the City Council hereby charges the Steering Committee <br />and the City Staff with the responsibility OI initiating the work <br />with Freese and NiChols, Inc. as soon as possible in order to <br />complete the desired updates as soon as possible involving <br />interested citizens in the planning process. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of October, 1979. <br /> <br /> <br />?o.#~ <br /> <br />ohn A.
