<br />72 <br /> <br />RESOUITIOO NO. 71 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, NOMINATING <br />A CANDIDATE FOR A POSITION ON THE BOARD <br />OF DIRECTORS OF THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT <br />OF HAYS COUNTY AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO SUBMIT THE NAME <br />OF THE NOMINEE TO THE COUNTY CLERK. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature, 66th Regular Session, <br />passed Senate Bill 621, the Property Tax Code for the <br />State of Texas; and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Property Tax Code established an <br />appraisal district in each county; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Code directs that the appraisal district <br />be governed by a board of five directors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Code permits each taxing unit entitled <br />to vote for directors to nominate by resolution one <br />candidate for each position to be filled on the board <br />of directors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 6.03(c) of said Code, the <br />City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, is entitled <br />to vote for directors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the governing bodies of three-fourths of the <br />taxing units entitled to vote on the appointment of members <br />of the Hays County board of directors have not exercised <br />the power granted by Section 6.03(i) of said Code to <br />change the method of selecting members of the board of <br />directors; and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, wishes to nominate a candidate for a position on <br />the Hays County appraisal district board of directors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, that nominee fulfills the eligibility requirements <br />of Section 6.03(a) of said Code; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART I. That RONert Stevenson be and is hereby nominated <br />for a position on the board of directors of the appraisal <br />district of Hays County, Texas. <br /> <br />PART 2. That the Mayor of said City, John A. Hansen, or <br />his successor, be and is hereby authorized to submit the <br />name of Robert Stevenson to Lydell Clayton, County Clerk <br />of Hays County, before October 15, 1979. <br /> <br />PART 3.
