<br />lto <br /> <br />regular meeting, march 26, 1973 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Tne Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the caption as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PLACEMENT FOR COLLECTION <br />THEREFROM AND REMOVAL THEREAFTER OF GARBAGE AND TRASH <br />CANS; AMENDING SECTION 12-5 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ENTITLED "PLACEMENT <br />FOR COLLECTION", BY DENOMINATING THE PRESENT SECTION <br />AS (al, AND BY ADDING A NEW SECTION (bl GOVERNING THE <br />REMOVAL OF GARBAGE AND TRASH CANS AFTER COLLECTION <br />THEREFROM. <br /> <br />Dr. Tauch moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. King seconded the motion. Mr. Etheredge stated that he <br />felt the Ordinance would be difficult to enforce, as well,.as <br />unfair for some elderly and disabled persons unable to carry <br />the cans any distance. On roll call, the following vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Flores, King, Tauch, Yarbrough <br />NAY: Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Etheredge <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion passed and the Ordinance approved <br />on first reading. <br /> <br />The City Secretary exhibited a map showing the new City limits <br />boundaries with reference to voting precincts. It is displayed <br />for public inspection in the office of the City Secretary. The <br />Council, on motion of Mr. DeL a Rosa and second of Mr. Etheredge, <br />voted unanimously to approve the precinct designations for the <br />newly annexed properties. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the caption as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND FIXING THE MAXIMUM SCHEDULES <br />OF RATES TO BE CHARGED BY UNITED GAS, INC. IN THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, FOR NATURAL GAS AND NATURAL GAS SERVICE I <br />FURNISHED BY IT TO RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL USERS, <br />CONTAINING DEFINITIONS, FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATES OF GAS <br />RATES PRESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE, MAKING MISCELLANEOUS <br />PROVISIONS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. <br /> <br />Mr. King moved the Ordinance be approved and third and final <br />reading. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion. On roll call, <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch, Yarbrough <br />NAY: Cunningham <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. <br /> <br />Mayor Flores stated that the following persons had been proposed <br />to serve on the Marijuana Study Committee: Mrs. Rudy Villalpando, <br />th~ Reverend James E. Folts, the Reverend Jack Byrom, Ted Breihan, <br />Jerry L. Moore, Peggy Meek, Aart Millecam, Mrs. Fred Hughes, <br />and Jerry McKnight. Mr. Yarbrough moved the above named persons <br />be appointed to the committee. Dr. Tauch seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Yarbrough proposed Mr. Ben McCollum be appointed to the <br />Board of Equalization. Mr. King submitted the name of Mr. <br />Richard Yax. Mr. Yarbrough moved to appoint Mr. McCollum and I <br />Mr. Yax to the Board of Equalization. Dr. Tauch seconded the <br />motion. Mr. Cunningham reminded the Council that a policy had <br />been established providing for all persons nominated to be <br />present at the meeting of their appointment. Mr. Yarbrough <br />withdrew his motion, with consent of seconder. <br /> <br />Mr. King moved to reappoint Dr. Glenn Longley, Dr. Emmie Craddock <br />and Mrs. Ray Buckner to the Environmental Advisory Committee. <br />Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
