Mr. Cunningham seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Etheredge moved the appointment <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />of Mrs. Rachel Gaitan to <br />Mr. King seconded the motion, <br /> <br />By common consent, the Council determined that five persons would <br />comprise the Airport Study Committee. No names were proposed for <br />appointment. <br /> <br />Councilman Cunningham requested the Council consider the rescision <br />of Section 16-3 of the Code of Ordinances which prohibits swimming, <br />etc., in Springlake. Mr. Cunningham said he felt the ordinance <br />constituted "special interest legislation" and was not in the best <br />interests of the general public. The matter was placed on the <br />July 2 workshop agenda; Mr. Cunningham requested an ordinance <br />recinding Section 16-3 be placed on the July 9 regular meeting agenda. <br /> <br />Councilman DeLa Rosa introduced a letter from Lee Swift offering <br />the donation of Lots 1 and 2, Block 4 of the C.D. Wallace Addition <br />for use by the City as a neighborhood park. Mr. Flores moved the <br />donation be accepted. Mr. King seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Etheredge reported that an Executive Session had been held <br />following the regular meeting of June 25 to consider criteria for <br />the hiring of a City Manager, and that no action had been taken. <br /> <br />By common consent Council confirmed an invitation to Curtis Adrian <br />of First Southwest Company to meet with Councilmen at the July 2 <br />workshop with respect to the selection of a Fiscal Agent. <br /> <br />Mr. Baugh reported that the Texas Highway Department had made the <br />decision to proceed with the widening of Loop 82, excluding the <br />Aquarena property. It was their opinion that the safety factor <br />was adequate and their request that we proceed with necessary <br />right-of-way negotiations. <br /> <br />Mayor Etheredge read a letter from LCRA Director Charles Herring <br />informing the Council that the Authority had received from the <br />Railroad Commission a priority order under an A-2 classification <br />so long as they encouraged their customers to conserve energy and <br />search for alternative fuels. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. <br /> <br />ccth~dJ~D <br /> <br />Eddy 11..
