Suckle; Geneva Gomez; Frances Emery; Jerri Martin; <br />Derek Aldridge; Melissa Millecam; Juan Palomo; Bob Elder; <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the July 23 Regular Meeting were approved on motion of <br />Mr. Flores and second of Dr. Tauch, with Mr. King abstaining. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor reported that the Executive Session of July 30 had been to <br />canvass the applications for City Manager; and that James B. Baugh had been <br />hired as City Manager at the Executive Session of August 6. He further <br />reported that the position of Municipal Court Judge had been discussed at <br />the August 13 Executive Session and that the Council was presently accepting <br />applications for the position to be filled at the end of the regular term <br />on October 1. Mr. Etheredge said the appointment would probably be made at <br />the second regular meeting in Se~tember. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a change in zoning of Lots <br />110, 111, 115 and 116 of the Park Addition from "D" to "C". James H. McCrocklin, <br />applicant, was present to request the change. Mr. Curtis Jenkins and <br />Dr. Pat Norwood were present to object to the change, stating that they <br />wished the area to remain a residential area. The Mayor closed the public <br />hearing and read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES <br />AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND <br />LAND, DATED MAY 23,)966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF <br />LOTS 110, 111, ~lliND 116 OF THE PARK ADDITION, FROM "D" <br />(MULTIFAMILY) TO "c" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. King, noting the Planning and Zoning reconnnendation for"approval, moved <br />the Ordinance by approved on first reading. Dr. Tauch seconded the motion, <br />and on roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Dibrell, Etheredge, King, Tauch <br />NAY: None <br />ABSTAIN: Flores <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion passed and the Ordinance approved on first reading. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a change in <br />zoning of Lots 112 and 113 in the Park Addition, located at 828 Chestnut <br />Street, from "R-I" to "C". Robert Elder, applicant, was present to request <br />the change. Mr. Curtis and Dr. Norwood again stated their objections. <br />Dr. Norwood reminded the Council that the Planning and Zoning Connnission had <br />reconnnended denial of the request. The Mayor closed the Public Hearing and <br />read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br />
