Wyatt, sr.; Melissa Millecam; <br />Mike Wallace; Dan Presswood; Jerri Martin <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held September 10, 1973 were approved <br />on motion of Mr. DeLa Rosa and second of Mr. King. <br /> <br />Mayor Etheredge reported that an Executive Session had been held on <br />September 17, 1973; that the full time position of a city attorney had <br />been discussed; and that the position had been offered to Mr. Thomas Akins. <br />He further stated that Mr. Akins would assume his duties October 15, 1973. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor then reported that an Executive Session had been held on <br />September 24, 1973, to discuss the appointment of a Municipal Court Judge <br />for the 1973-1974 term, and that two applicants for the position had been <br />interviewed. Mr. Etheredge stated that the Council had voted to offer <br />the position to Mr. Larry Murphree. Mr. Etheredge said the Council had <br />also discussed a personnel matter relating to the Police Department, but <br />that no action had been taken. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING AN ALLEY WHICH IS PART OF THE <br />PARK ADDITION TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, NAMELY THAT ALLEY <br />BOUNDED BY PEACH TREE STREET AND LOTS NUMBER 65 AND 66 OF SAID <br />ADDITION; RELINQUISHING TO S'EEPHEN L. BOX AND BARNETT BAKER, ALL <br />RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS IN AND TO SAID <br />ALLEY; AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER <br />TO SUCH PERSONS Q(!ITCLAIM DEEDSfTO PORTIONS OF SAID ALLEY. <br /> <br />Mr. King moved to table the Ordinance unt'i1Mr. Baker and Mr. Box could <br />be present to discuss the matter with the Council. Mr. DeLa ROsa seconded <br />the motion which was approved by common consent. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the sale of two pieces of property, <br />one in the T.J. Chambers Addition, the second in the College Courts Addition. <br />He .xp1ained that the property had been purchased by the City from W.S. Rader <br />in November, 1967, for right-of~ay in the extension of Comanche Street <br />to Holland Street. ~~nce the extension has now been determined not to be <br />feasible and the property no longer needed by the City, Mr. Rader has <br />requested it be resold to him..- Mr. DeLa Rosa moved not to sell the property <br />unless further study determined the City did not need it, and then to auction <br />it off. Dr. Tauch seconded the motion. Mr. King said he felt Mr. Rader should <br />be given an opportunity to repurchase the property, but that perhaps a more <br />
