Brown, Executive Director of the San Marcos Urban <br />Renewal Agency, came before the Council to discuss possible land <br />use changes within the NDP Tex A-6 Urban Renewal Plan. After <br />discussion of the proposed changes, Mr. King moved that a Publ ic <br />Hearing be scheduled for the regular meeting on November 13 to <br />consider land use changes in the NDP Tex A-6 Urban Renewal Plan. <br />Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Emmie Craddock, representing the Planning and Zoning Commission, <br />came before the Council to recommend that the City approach the <br />Commissioners Court and the School Board to consider consol idation <br />of administrative offices in one building. The advantages of such <br />consolidation were discussed. <br /> <br />Mr. OeLa Rosa moved that the Planning and Zoning Commission be <br />authorized by the Council to contact officials of the other agencies <br />to discuss the proposal. Mr, Etheredge seconded the motion. The <br />Mayor asked if the Commission would accept this responsibi I ity. <br />Mrs, Jack Weatherford, chairman of the Commission, stated that the <br />recommendation had received the ful I support of al I the members, <br />and that they would accept. On 1"01 I cal I, the motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Jack Stoval I, chairman of the San Marcos Bicentennial Committee, <br />came before the Council to give a progress report on activities of <br />the Committee to date, Mrs. Stovall reported that she had just <br />learned that San Marcos had been designated by the American <br />Revolution Bicentennial Commission of Texas as a "Bicentennial City". <br />She suggested that the Counci I consider schedul ing the main cele- <br />bration on June 14, 1976, Councilman Yarbrough moved the San Marcos <br />Bicentennial Celebration be held on June 14, 1976. The motion was <br />seconded by Counci Iman Etheredge, and passed unanimously. The <br />Mayor issued a Proclamation naming 1972 as the introductory year <br />to the San Marcos Bicent~nITial telebratl~~; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a resolution awarding a contract for construction <br />of Street Improvements and Extension of Sessom Drive, which the <br />City Secretary read in its entirety. (see attached) Counci Iman King <br />moved the resolution be approved. Councilman Tauch seconded the <br />motion. James B. Baugh, Assistant to ~he City Manager, stated that <br />the Director of Publ ic Works had approved a change in the contract <br />between Dean Word Company of Ne~ Braunfels and the City that would <br />allow constructi,.o,n,of drainagefaci'l lti,es,at'the lowew end of <br />Sessom Drive to begin earl ier than stipulat6d, contingent upon <br />al lowing traffic to continue to flow through this area during the <br />work. On 1"01 I cal I, the motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Barton, jr., came before the Council to suggest that former <br />and present City Counci Imen and Urban Renewal Commissioners who had <br />been associated with the Urban Renewal Project since its inception <br />be invited as special guests to the dedication ceremony of the <br />Juan Veramendi Historical Plaza to be held October 22, 1972. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~~&L~ <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor <br />
