<br />regular meeting, november 17, 1972 <br /> <br />page three <br /> <br />Mrs, Jack Stoval I came before the Counci I on matters relating <br />to the Bicentennial Celebration. She introduced Mrs. James Taylor, <br />Vice Chairman for Horizons, who gave a report to the Council, and <br />requested a resolution approving appl ication for a grant from the <br />Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. <br /> <br />The Mayor asked the City Manager to study the matter, and make a <br />recommendation to the Council on applying for the grant. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Counci I was presented with a report and recommendation on the <br />bid-opening for equipment held November 1. Low bid for the .Backhoe <br />was entered at $9,905,00 by Lanford Equipment Company. The City <br />Manager recommended that the second low bid of $10,303.00, entered <br />by River City Machinery Company of Austin, be accepted by the <br />Council, for reasons explained in the attached bid evaluation. <br />The matter was discussed. Mr. King moved that t'he Backhoe be <br />purchased from River City Machinery Company on the second low bid <br />of $10,303,00, Dr, Tauch seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Counci Iman Etheredge moved that the December 25 regular meeting of <br />the Counc i I be' reschedu I ed. for Wednesday, December 27, 1972, at the <br />same hour and place. Mr. King seconded the motion, which passed <br />u nan i mous I y', <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an ordinance and read tne fol lowing caption: <br /> <br />AN DRDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC <br />HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING <br />THE MA YO,~ TO PUBLI SH NOT I CE OF SUCH PUBLI C HEAR I NG; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Yarbrough moved approva'l of the ordi'Nnce,ol1 an e.mer~:wncy basis, <br />Dr. Tauch seconded the motion,'im'don"roll.:c_all, the'followi~g vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, Ta~ch, Yarbrough <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. <br /> <br />Counci Iman DeLa Rosa cal lAd attention to an erroneous statement <br />wh i ch appeared in a story on' Li nda"Lane in ''the SAN:.MAt~C()S ,~ECORD <br />on November 16. The City Manager said he was aware of the error: <br />"that ~he City had agreed to accept a 45 foot right-of-way."
