The second"proposal <br />was for Community Medical and Dental Assistance. The third <br />~as for a Neighborhood Recreation Program. In the wake of <br />discussion of the third proposal, Counci Iman Etheredge said <br />the City's recreation program was given a Hood budget, and" <br />should be able to meet the needs of the community. <br />Mr. Etheredge moved t,hat the Council direct the City Manag,er <br />to i nstr,uct the Parks and Recreat i on Director to look into, <br />programs for children on the south side of town, and to get <br />going with them. Mr. DeLa Rosa seconded the motion. <br />Mr. Yarbrough requested that the motion. inclu'de a request <br />fo~ a rep~rt bac~ to the Council on the Director's findings <br />and plans. Mr. Joe Mol ina, a visitor to the meeting, stated <br />that the only recreation for children at present was pro- <br />vided by Southside Co~munity Center. The Mayor stated that he <br />had been in contact with County Commissioner-elect Ruben Ruiz, <br />who had expressed a des i r,e for a workshop with City and, County <br />officials to discuss the Revenue Sharing program. Councilman <br />Yarbrough announced that Governor Smith was hosting a <br />Revenue Sharing Seminar on December 13 in Austin, and encouraged <br />all interested persons to attend.
