regular meeting, january 8, 1973

page three

Mr. Phil Waters came before the Council with a resolution passed
by the Hays County Independent Organization (see attached) advocating
support and confidence in the City Council Members named in the
recal I petiiion. Counci Iman Etheredge then presented forty-four
statements from signers of the petition requesting that their
names be withdrawn to be placed on file in the City Secretary's
office.

I

Mr. B. Frankl in Davidson, representing the San Marcos Area Board
of Realtors, came before the Council to state that the Real Estate
Board wished to offer its support and assistance relating to the
need for a street from Owen Goodnight Jr. High school to Redwood
Road. Councilmen suggested a workshop in the near future with the
realtors and school board to discuss the situation.

Architects for the Rio Vista Swimming Pool, Orby G. Roots and
Chari ie L. Bellah, came before the Council to present prel iminary
plans for that project. Their estimate for the pool, based on
the prel iminary plans, is $210,000. The City Manager explained
that virtually all funds would be obtained from the Department
of Housing and Urban Development, with the City using the value of
the land as its share. Councilmen and visitors discussed the
plans with Mr. Roots and Mr. Bellah. Mr. DeLa Rosa moved to approve
the prel iminary plans and location, and to authorize the architects
to proceed with the final plans for the swimming pool. Mr. King
seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

At 9:00 p.m., the Council recessed to reconvene in Executive
Session at 6:00 p.m., January 10.

I

~~~4ff~
, Luciano H.
