Hagedorn; Bob Barton; <br />Juan Palomo; Mrs. Jack Stovall; Jerri Martin; <br />Terry Roberts; Diane Gonzales; Jon Sparks; Don Flores; <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by the Reverend Alphonso Washington. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the February 12, 1973 meeting were approved <br />on motion of Councilman DeLa Rosa and second of Councilman Etheredge. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an ordinance determining and fixing the <br />maximum schedules of rates to be charged by United Gas, Inc. <br />Mr. Robert Uhr, of the Vnited Gas Company, presented for approval <br />the ordinance increasing the rate schedule to compensate for the <br />increased city gate rate. The City Secretary read the ordinance <br />in its entirety. The caption is as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND FIXING THE MAXIMUM SCHEDULES <br />OF RATES TO BE CHARGED BY UNITED GAS, INC. IN THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, FOR NATURAL GAS AND NATURAL GAS SERVICE <br />FURNISHED BY IT TO RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL USERS, <br />CONTAINING DEFINITIONS, FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATES OF GAS <br />RATES PRESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE, MAKING MISCELLANEOUS <br />PROVISIONS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. <br /> <br />Councilman King moved the ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Councilman Etheredge seconded the motion. On roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch, Yarbrough <br />NAY: Cunningham <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the ordinance approved on first reading. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Etheredge moved to amend the Order calling for the City Officer <br />Election to by held April 3, by appointing William C. Allbright <br />to serve as Presiding Judge for Precinct 14. Mr. Cunningham <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a resolution declaring the intent Of the City <br />ot San Marcos to provide right-of-way for the widening and improve- <br />ment of Highway 82 from water street to the intersection of <br />Highway 82 and the Missouri Pacific railroad tracks. Dr. Tauch <br />moved the resolution be approved. The motion was seconded by <br />Mr. Yarbrough. The City Manager stated that the City owned <br />all but about 90% of the right-of-way; and that the remain- <br />ing 10% would be purchased. Mr. Gresham said that estimates <br />of the cost of the right-Of-way to be purchased had not yet <br />been made. Mr. Flores said that he felt it would be unwise <br />for the Council to commit itself in the form of this resolution <br />
