REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, FEBRUARY 26, 1973 Present: Mayor Luciano H. Flores Councilmen William L. Cunningham Guillermo DeLa Rosa Eddy A. Hagedorn; Bob Barton; Juan Palomo; Mrs. Jack Stovall; Jerri Martin; Terry Roberts; Diane Gonzales; Jon Sparks; Don Flores; The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Invocation was given by the Reverend Alphonso Washington. The Minutes of the February 12, 1973 meeting were approved on motion of Councilman DeLa Rosa and second of Councilman Etheredge. The Mayor introduced an ordinance determining and fixing the maximum schedules of rates to be charged by United Gas, Inc. Mr. Robert Uhr, of the Vnited Gas Company, presented for approval the ordinance increasing the rate schedule to compensate for the increased city gate rate. The City Secretary read the ordinance in its entirety. The caption is as follows: I AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND FIXING THE MAXIMUM SCHEDULES OF RATES TO BE CHARGED BY UNITED GAS, INC. IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, FOR NATURAL GAS AND NATURAL GAS SERVICE FURNISHED BY IT TO RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL USERS, CONTAINING DEFINITIONS, FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATES OF GAS RATES PRESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE, MAKING MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT. Councilman King moved the ordinance be approved on first reading. Councilman Etheredge seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch, Yarbrough NAY: Cunningham The Mayor declared the ordinance approved on first reading. I Mr. Etheredge moved to amend the Order calling for the City Officer Election to by held April 3, by appointing William C. Allbright to serve as Presiding Judge for Precinct 14. Mr. Cunningham seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor introduced a resolution declaring the intent Of the City ot San Marcos to provide right-of-way for the widening and improve- ment of Highway 82 from water street to the intersection of Highway 82 and the Missouri Pacific railroad tracks. Dr. Tauch moved the resolution be approved. The motion was seconded by Mr. Yarbrough. The City Manager stated that the City owned all but about 90% of the right-of-way; and that the remain- ing 10% would be purchased. Mr. Gresham said that estimates of the cost of the right-Of-way to be purchased had not yet been made. Mr. Flores said that he felt it would be unwise for the Council to commit itself in the form of this resolution
