Sissom; Shirley Wickersham <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held October 23, 1973, were approved on <br />motion of Councilman DeLa Rosa and second of Councilman Cunningham. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a public hearing to consider a request for a change in <br />zoning of part of Lot 5, Block 5 of the Dan McKie Second Addition. Bill Jonas, <br />applicant, was present to request the change. There were no objections <br />received. The Mayor closed the public hearing and read the caption of an <br />ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES <br />AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, <br />DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF PART OF LOT 5, <br />BLOCK 5 OF THE DAN McKIE SECOND ADDITION, LOCATED ON THE CORNER OF <br />CHEATHAM AND GUADALUPE STREETS, FROM "C" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2'/ (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. DeLa Rosa moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. Mr. King <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. King moved an ordinance amending the General Zoning Ordinance by changing <br />the zoning of part of Lots 8 and 9, Block 9 of the Original Town of San Marcos <br />from "C" to "C-2" be taken from the table for discussion. Mr. Cunningham <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Donna Throckmorton was present <br />to represent the record owner of the property, W.H. Hamilton. The City Attorney <br />advised the Council that the application for rezoning, designating Jackie L. <br />Bruton as applicant and signed by W.H. Hamilton, was in order. The Mayor <br />read the caption of the Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES <br />AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, <br />DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF PART OF LOTS <br />8 AND 9, BLOCK 9 OF THE ORIGINAL TOWN OF SAN MARCOS, LOCATED AT 153 <br />SOUTH L.B.J. DRIVE, FROM "C" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. King moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. Mr. Cunningham <br />seconded the motion. Councilmen discussed their concern with regard to the <br />indefinite planned usage of the property. On roll call, the following vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Cunningham, Etheredge, King <br />NAY: DeLa Rosa, Dibrell, Flores <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion failed and the ordinance not approved. <br />
