Carson, owner of the property, explained his plans for <br />a shopping center facing on Thorp Lane. He said he had agreed <br />to dedicate 60 feet tor widening Thorp Lane. Mr. DeLa Rosa <br />expressed concern about traffic congestion on Thorp Lane. Mr. <br />Carson said development ot the property was contingent on the <br />widening of Thorp Lane. The Planning & Zoning Commission had <br />brought out details of the ,development, and had recommended that <br />the Council grant the rezoning request. <br />When all had been given an opportunity to speak for or against I <br />the change of zoning, the Mayor Pro Tem closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem introduced an ordinance and read the follow- <br />1ng caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32)BY CHANG- <br />ING THE ZONING ON A 26.05-ACRE TRACT OUT OF J.M. VERAMENDI <br />LEAGUE #2, FROM -M- (MIXED) TO "CH (COMMERCIAL) <br /> <br />Mrs. Emery moved approval of the ordinance on first reading. <br />Mr. King seconded the, motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem opened a public hearing on a request for <br />rezoning of Lots 7 & 8, San Marcos Heights Subdivision, from <br />-R-1" (eingle-tamily residentiiliBl) to "D- (multi-family). The <br />property fronts on North LBJ Drive, and is owned by Marion <br />Parke,r. <br />No one came forward to speak for or against the request. <br />The Mayor Pro Tem closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mr. Flores introduced an ordinance and read the following <br />caption: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION30F THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL 32) BY CHANG- <br />ING THE ZONING ON LOTS 7 & 8, SAN MARCOS HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION, <br />FROM "R-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO'-D!!, (MULTI~FAMlLY) <br /> <br />Mr. Etheredge moved approval of the ordinance on first reading. <br />Mr. King seconded the motion, which passed unanimously~ <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem reminded the Council that the date of the <br />next regular meeting would fall on a legal holiday. Mr. Etheredge <br />moved that the second regular meeting of the month be held at the <br />usual hour, on Tuesday, 'October 26, 1971. Mr. King seconded the <br />motion, Which passed 'unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem introduced an orminance and read the following <br />caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CHARGES <br />FOR THE PICK-UP OF GARBAGE WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS I <br />INSOFAR AS RESIDENCES, ARE CONCERNED; PROVIDING THAT SUCH <br />CHARGES ALLOW NO C.REDITS FOR VACANCIES; PROVIDING THAT CHARGES <br />BE DEBITED TO EACH ACTIVE WATER METER ACCOUNT; PROVIDING <br />THAT TRASH AND BRUSH PICK-UP BE AVAILABLE ONCE PER WEEK <br />AS PART OF THE FIXED OHARGE I F THE CITY IS CALLED UPON TO <br />MAKE SUCH PICK7UP; PROVIDING FOR CHARGES FOR THE,PICK~UP <br />OF GARBAGE INSOFAR AS COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS ARE CON- <br />CERNED; REPEALING ALL LAWS I N CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND <br />PROVIDING A SAVINGS,CLAUSE <br />
