REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OCTOBER 26,1971 Present: Mayor Herbert A. Yarbrough, jr. Councilmen: Guillermo DeLa Rosa Frances D. Emery Eddy A. Etheredge Luciano H. Flores Ross King David R. Tauch I City Manager City Secretary Mark E. Gresham Dorothy O. Worrell Visitors: The, Rev. H. Ellis Thomas, Laura Whittenberg, Mrs. Jack Weatherford, Otis Reese, W.S. Rader, Jerry Hinnenkamp, Peter Rodriguez, Ted Breihan, Geronimo Flores, Dudley R. Dobie, Wallace Barber, Edra P. Allbright, Wm. Pennington The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7~30 p~m. The Rev. H. Ellis Thomas, Pastor of First 'United Methodist Church, gave the Invocation. Councilman DeLa Rosa moved approval of the Minutes, as presented. Mrs. Emery seconded the motion, and on rollcall, the following vote was recorded: I AYE: NAY: ABSTAIN: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, King None Tauch,Yarbrough The Mayor declared the motion carried. The Mayor read the names of six persons whose names had been submitted for three vacancies on the Planning Cd Zoning Commission. Mr. Yarbrough asked that each Councilman write three names on a slip of paper~ The ballots were counted by the City Secretary and the City Manager, and the Mayor announced the three persons niiuuedeJ for three7yeQr t,erms: Dr. Stanley Sissom (for a second term); Bob Barton,' jr. and the Rev. Alphonso Washington. Mr. DeLa Rosa moved thQt Dr. Stanley Sissom be reappointed, and Mr. Bob Ba,rton, jr. and the Rev. Alphonso Washington be appointed for three year terms on the, PIQnning Cd Zoni ng Commission ~ Dr. T auch seconded the motion, which passedunanimot/sly. I Wallace Barber, representi.ng' Mr. and Mrs ~ William Allbright, came before the Coun6il to QPpeal a negativeds6isioh o~thePlanning and Zoning Commission on a request for rezonin9~ Mrs. Allbright also spoke to the question. Mr. Etheredge moved that a public hearing be set for, November 22, 1971, to consider a request for rezoning of property at S02 West San Antonio, from "R-1" to "C". Mr. Flores seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: DeLaRosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores; King,Yarbrough NAY: Tauch The Mayor declared the motion carried.
