Gundy, Mrs. Jack Weatherford The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. G.l. Gundy, Pastor of First American Lutheran Church, gave the Invocation. The Minutes of the December 27, 1971 meeting were approved as presented. I The Mayor introduced for action an item tabled at the previous meeting: awarding a franchise for a TV cable system in San Marcos. Mr. Etheredge moved that the Council award the franchise to San Marcos TV Cable Co., Inc., subject to satisfactory negotiation on a contract. Mrs. Emery seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: ABSTAIN: Dela Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores King, Tauch Yallbrough The Mayor declared the motion carried. I The Mayor opened a public hearing on a request for change of zoning from "R-l" to "C" on a 6.95-acre tract located on RR 12. No one appeared to speak for or against the request. The Mayor declared the public hearing closed~ Councilman King sUBgested that the request be returned to the Planning & Zoning'Commission to consider zoning "200 feet or so" along RR 12 commercial, leaving the balance of the tract "R-l", single-family ~esidential. Mr. Flores commented that 150 -300 feet frontage on RR 12 should be sufficient for commercial use. Dr. Tauch observed that the owner had not appeared to explain the planned use of the land. Mrs. Jack Weatherford, member of the Planning & Zoning Commission, said perhaps the matter could be discussed at the wmrkshop scheduled for January 18. Mr. King moved that the ordinance changing the zoning be tabled. Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
