A plat is attached and made a part of the Minutes.
Mr. Yarbrough explained that the Planning & Zoning Commission
had requested the hearing, but inasmuch as all the properties
presehtly under comsideration were already zoned "R-l" (single-
family residential), and so indicated on the zoning map, an integral
part of the Zoning Ordinance, no ,additional ordinance would be
required. Dr. Tauch moved that the properties indicated on the
plat be zoned "R-l" as indicated on the official zoning map.
Mrs. Emery seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

The Mayor introduced an ordinance and read the caption, as follows:

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE
REGULATION, LICENSING, IMPOUNDING, SELLING AND DISPOSING
OF ANIMALS BY ADDITIONALLY PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOUNDING OF
DOGS RUNNING AT lARGE; PROVIDING A NEW SECTION OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, TO BE DESIG-
NATED SECTION 3-20; DELETING SECTION 3-46 AND REPLACING
IT WITH A NEW SECTION UNDER THE SAME NUMBER; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE

I

Mr. 'Yarbrough said passage of the ordi nance would require en-
largement of the pound and additional personnel - items not on
the current budget. He asked the City Manager for more precise
figures on the proposed extended program. Mr. Gresham said ex-
pansion of facilities would cost about $2,000.00, and about
$1,000.00 for additional salary and supplies. He said the pres;
ent warden only works three days a week; the amendment to the
ordinance would require five days a week. The City Manager said
two people had told him they were in favor of the "leash law";
none had voiced opposition to it.
Mr. King said six people had spoken to him about it - two for;
four against a IBash law. He said he ~hought it would be unwise
to initiate a new program until it could be budgeted. The City

Manager said it might be proper to table the ordinance until it
could be implemented.
