regular meeting, february 14, 1972

page three

I

The Mayor opened a public hearing to consider a permanent
zoning of "R-l" (single-family residential) on a four-
acre tract owned by the local council of the Knights of
Columbus.
Carlos G. Rodriguez, Grand Knight of Council 3458, came
before the Council to discuss future plans for a new KC Hall.
Since the present frame building was on the site when the
property was annexed, the present zoning is "R-l", 0.00.- con-
. forming. Construction of a new building would require a
change of zoning. Mr. Rodriguez said he felt if all their
plans could be discussed at this time, it would prevent a
possible misunderstanding later.
The Mayor suggested that Council 3458 make application for
a change of zoning. Mr. Rodriguez said "P-2" classification
would probably come closest to the planned use of the building.
The Mayor closed the public hearing.
Mr. King moved that the recommendation be returned to the
Planning & Zoning Commission, with the request that plans under
discussion for a thoroughfare near the KC property be studied.
Mr. Dela Rosa seconded the motion. Dr. Tauch said the Planning
& Zoning Commission had discussed establishing a commercial
area in that neighborhooG, when Nick lara had requested change
of zoning to commercial on his property at 1521 West Hopkins.
He suggested this aspect be reviewed by the Commission. The
question being called for, the motion carried unanimously.

I

The Mayor introduced two Orders relating to the City Officers'
Election, April 4.
Mr. DeLa Rosa moved adoption of the ORDER ESTABLISHING PRO-
CEDURE FOR CITY ELECTION. Mr. King s~conded the motion, which
passed unanimously. The Order is attached as a part of the
Minutes.
The Mayor read the ORDER FOR CITY OFFICERS' ELECTION, including
the names of the seven Presiding Judges, and moved its adoption.
Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The
Order is attached as a part of the Minutes.

The Mayor explained that it was necessary to issue a corrective
deed to be issued on a utility easement giv~n the City in 1951,
in order to clear title to a tract of land. Mrs. Emery moved
that the Mayor be authorized to execute a quit-claim deed to
correct the property description on an existing easement. A
copy of the deed is attached. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion,
which passed unanimously.

The Mayor intrIDduced anordina~ce with the following caption:

AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE AUTHORITY, RIGHT AND
PRIVILEGE TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A CITY-WIDE
TELEVISION SIGNAL DISTRIBUTION SERVICE FOR THE
DISTRIBUTION OF AUDIO, VIDEO, AND RADIO, SIGNALS;
AND PROVIDING THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS UNDER
WHICH SAID SYSTEM SHAll BE OPERATED AND MAINTAINED

I

Mr. Dela Rosa moved approval of the Frarichise Ordinance on
first reading.
